I'd like to write for Intercom. What is the process?
Our Author Guidelines explains what we're looking for and how to pitch an article. It also contains useful information about copyright, graphics, and other issues related to the magazine. In addition, prospective authors should read the magazine's Writing Tips section to make the process faster and easier.
Do I have to have an idea for an article I'd like to write, or could I ask for the editors to assign me an article?
You may submit an idea, or ask to be assigned an article. Intercom editors always appreciate it when technical communicators have an idea for an article, since they are the ones working in the field and in touch with the demands of the marketplace. But if you'd like to write and don't have a subject in mind, you can e-mail the editors and ask for an assignment. Be sure to explain a little about the type of work you do--that will help the editors determine an appropriate subject.
I've got an idea for an article I'd like to see in Intercom, but I can't write it. Can I send the idea to the editors?
