Deanne Levander

Director at Large

I welcome the opportunity to serve the Society as Director-at-Large, building on my experience to support the Society as it continues to build our profession’s position in the world. I encourage others to learn how they can improve their careers through participation in Society activities.

Deanne Levander became an STC Fellow in 2010 and has been involved in STC leadership at both the local and the Society level for most of her career. She is currently the managing editor of the Technical Communication Body of Knowledge (TCBOK).

Her experience with local and Society activities includes chapter, conference, and competition leadership that started with her participation as a member. She advocates respect for the jobs technical communicators do and awareness of our unique standing in the business world. As chapter employment committee manager, she matched technical communicators with employers and led an annual employment workshop. She became familiar with the local businesses that hired technical communicators.

Deanne also serves as a mentor to other writers, both in their writing careers and in their STC activities. She continues to meet with current and aspiring technical communicators, sharing her knowledge of the profession and encouraging their participation in local chapter and Society activities.

Currently employed as a senior writer with TCF National Bank in Minneapolis, MN, Deanne enjoy all aspects of the profession. She has held technical communicator positions in a variety of industries including super-computer manufacturing, meteorology, public transportation, biomedical manufacturing, insurance, and finance.

Deanne also enjoys spending time in the woods of Northeastern Minnesota, walking, reading, cooking, being a host parent to international students from a local college, and being a volunteer for a local nonprofit international music venue.
