Steve Skojec

Director of Community Relations

STC exists to serve the profession of technical communication, and at the heart of this mission stands our membership. The facilitation of excellent communication between the organization and its members enables productive collaboration, maximizes the utilization of mutual resources, and is thus essential to our task. Listening to members’ needs and concerns and proactively offering solutions that provide value and benefit to the profession is how we will chart our course toward the future.

Steve Skojec began working in crisis communications and social media in 2006. As an account executive at TMG Strategies, he performed media analysis and worked closely with the first new media team at General Motors to help develop social media strategy and content for one of the world’s largest automakers. He worked on social communications for a wide range of initiatives, including Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles, DARPA’s “Urban Challenge” to promote the development of autonomous cars, and the mass-market plug-in electric vehicle known as the Chevy Volt.

Prior to his work with TMG, Steve worked as an assistant to the Directors of Technical Information and Standards at the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. He has also worked as a freelance writer, columnist, and blogger, and his writing has appeared in a number of publications, including Accuracy in Academia and The Washington Times.

Steve is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, with a BA in communication arts. His hobbies include photography, reading science fiction, graphic design, and fiction writing.
