Technical communicators work in many different industries, so the specifics of their jobs vary a great deal. One professional may be writing a user's manual for a new software package; another may be helping a surgeon prepare a research paper for publication.
STC's monthly magazine, Intercom, has run a series of articles in which technical communicators describe their day-to-day work for organizations such as NASA, General Mills, and Nintendo.
