International Online Communication Competition (IOCC)

Note: To be eligible for this competition, an entry must first win in a chapter competition. (Chapter competitions are usually held in September/October.)

The Society's international online communication competition (IOCC) recognizes the outstanding accomplishments and innovations of technical communicators who design and develop online information.

Online information development presents a unique challenge to technical communicators who employ quickly changing technologies to deliver information to their audience. This competition honors those technical communicators whose online documents clearly fulfill the intended purpose, possess superior quality, successfully integrate and organize content, and use the available media and technologies of the platform to the best advantage.

International Technical Art Competition (ITAC)

Note: To be eligible for this competition, an entry must first win in a chapter competition. (Chapter competitions are usually held in September/October.)

The international technical art competition (ITAC) recognizes significant accomplishment in visually communicating technical concepts. In this competition, we examine the work of communicators who use the tools and techniques of the visual artist and the graphic artist.

To compete in the ITAC, entries must first receive a Distinguished award in a chapter competition. Each entry is then judged against criteria measuring the degree of technical content, achievement of purpose, and technical execution. Entries exemplify the talent, creativity, and understanding that is unique to artists who successfully communicate technical, scientific, and business information.

International Technical Publications Competition (ITPC)

Note: To be eligible for this competition, an entry must first win in a chapter competition. (Chapter competitions are usually held in September/October.)

The Society sponsors the international technical publications competition (ITPC) to determine, recognize, and encourage excellence in communication through printed media. The ITPC honors technical writers and editors who set the standards for published technical communication.

Winners in the ITPC are selected by consensus. Three-judge panels evaluate each entry for such qualities as production, design and typography, copy editing, content and organization, and graphics. In addition, a winning publication must meet the stated purpose for the intended audience.
