Nicky Bleiel

Candidate for Vice President

Nicky Bleiel is an experienced technical communication professional, manager, and STC Leader, with over 17 years in the industry, and nine years as an STC volunteer at all levels —including Director-At-Large. She knows the profession, the people, the Society, and the issues. She’d like to use her knowledge and skills to move STC and the profession forward, and build a robust, active, and vibrant STC.

Robert Dianetti

Candidate for Vice President

Bob Dianetti is an experienced technical communication executive, educator and practitioner with extensive non-profit board experience. Bob has served on several non-profit boards, including the STC board as Director from 2004 through 2007. It would be an honor to bring this experience and knowledge to the Society in the capacity of Vice President in 2012.

Alyssa Fox

Candidate for Secretary

Alyssa Fox is an STC senior member with 15 years of experience in technical communication. She actively promotes the technical communication profession through speaking at conferences and local events, and mentoring others about expanding their roles to provide more value in their organizations. Alyssa is active in STC at local and society levels, and wants to continue to serve the society in new ways to provide excellent resources to its members.

Michael Opsteegh

Candidate for Secretary

Michael Opsteegh joined STC as a student member in 2002 and quickly became actively involved in the Orange County Chapter. He has served his local chapter as treasurer, membership chair, newsletter editor, and president and has served a member on several committees. Michael believes that STC benefits its members most by advancing the profession of technical communication and that he can help STC serve its members and the profession.

Bernard Aschwanden

Candidate for Director

An experienced STC community past-president, presenter, educator, and leader. Over 20 years in technical communications, with strong relationships and the ability to bring together diverse teams.


Li-At Ruttenberg

Candidate for Director

Technical communicator seeks an STC Director position in which she can leverage her international perspective, diverse professional experiences, and vibrant personality to improve Society members’ conditions.

Ray Gallon

Candidate for Director

Ray is an independent consultant specializing in the convergence of content strategy, content development, and usability. He is currently in his second term as president of STC France. Before that, he was the chapter’s education outreach manager, and guided STC France’s mentoring programme. Internationally, Ray has served two years on STC’s Community Affairs Committee (CAC), focusing on outreach to non-North American chapters. He also served as CAC representative on the Globalization Audit Task Force, and this year he is CAC communications lead. His candidacy is based on renewing STC through a strong international presence to influence the development of our profession, an enhanced role for STC communities, and providing real value and service to members.

Bonni Graham-Gonzales

Candidate for Nominating Committee

Bonni Graham Gonzalez has been a technical documenter for over 20 years. She has created award-winning manuals for Sony, Kenwood USA, Nissan North America (with Technical Standards), Hewlett-Packard, and others. She is currently the Senior Manager of User Experience and Documentation Manager for Scantron Corporation and is an Associate Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication.

DJ Cline

Candidate for Nominating Committee

DJ Cline wants to help build an STC for the next generation. He is an STC Fellow, SVForum Media Fellow, Charter Member of the Long Now Foundation, former Silicon Valley Engineering Council Director and Touchstone Award winner.

John Hedtke

Candidate for Nominating Committee

John Hedtke is the award-winning author of 26 books. He has over 30 years in the software business, close to 30 years writing, and 7 years in technical publications management. John has developed and written documentation and books for many leading software products, and has received 26 writing awards to date.

Judy Glick-Smith

Candidate for Nominating Committee

Judy has been committed to the ever-evolving field of technical communication and to the Society for many years. She has expressed this commitment through involvement and dedication as a volunteer, professional, and educator. She is committed to finding the next generation of visionary STC leaders.
