Andrea Wenger

Candidate for Nominating Committee

With seventeen years’ experience in technical communication, Andrea Wenger is president of the Carolina Chapter and Communications Manager of the Technical Editing SIG. In 2010, she served on the STC Community Support and Funding Task Force. She writes about grammar and style in Carolina Communique, the newsletter of the Carolina Chapter, and blogs at WriteWithPersonality.com.

Ben Woelk

Candidate for Director

Ben Woelk, architect and team lead of the Community Affairs Committee Outreach Team, is a Senior Member and past president of the Rochester chapter, where he’s held a number of admin council positions. Ben works in the information security office at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he’s responsible for policy development and security awareness communications and training. He teaches courses at RIT in cyber self defense and effective technical communication and is a past co-chair of the Awareness and Training Working Group of the EDUCAUSE Higher Education Information Security Council.

Brian Lindgren

Candidate for Treasurer

Brian Lindgren’s background combines business savvy with technical communications prowess. He was named STC Fellow in 2011, acknowledging his extensive STC commitment. His professional career has spanned a gamut of technical writing/communications and management responsibilities that have included developing, growing, and managing business.

Deanne Levander

Candidate for Director

Deanne Levander has been serving her chapter and the Society for over 30 years and always enjoys the challenges and opportunities created by working for the Society. An STC Fellow, she supports the Society’s efforts on behalf of technical communication and looks forward to serving the Society, its members, and the profession.

Jane Wilson

Candidate for Treasurer

Jane Wilson is a dedicated STC leader, having served as the STC Atlanta Chapter Treasurer for five years. She is very knowledgeable about the STC budgeting and funding model, and has practical experience with finance through her work. Jane is an Information Architect at GE Transportation Optimization Solutions, where she leads the Information Products group and is responsible for product documentation and training deliverables.


Katherine Brown-Hoekstra

Candidate for Vice President

Kit Brown-Hoekstra is an experienced professional, STC Fellow, and small business owner with over 23 years of experience in technical communication. Her STC experience ranges from SIG manager and chapter president to international competitions manager, Society Nominating Committee, and Global Strategies Task Force co-chair, plus myriad other volunteer activities. As VP, Kit would use her experience and industry knowledge to help STC chart and navigate the best course forward and to promote the profession globally.

Michael Opsteegh

Candidate for Director

Michael Opsteegh joined STC as a student member in 2002 and quickly became actively involved in the Orange County Chapter. He has served his local chapter as treasurer, membership chair, newsletter editor, and president and has served a member on several committees. Michael believes that STC benefits its members most by advancing the profession of technical communication and that he can help STC serve its members and the profession.

Paul Mueller

Candidate for Vice President

Paul Mueller has served in many leadership roles, from managing a team of 40 distributed around the world to owning his own consulting company. Paul's STC service includes a term on the Board and many other Society leadership positions, including STC Summit Conference Chair and Strategic Program Assessment Task Force Chair. Paul would like to use his business experience to strengthen the Society and deliver services in a cost-effective manner to support and shape future leaders.


Phylise Banner

Candidate for Nominating Committee

Phylise Banner is an instructional strategist with a passion for professional exploration, networking and community building. With over 25 years of experience in technical communication industry and academia, she credits her professional success to the STC and is committed to giving back to the society through the cultivation of a vibrant STC leadership team.
