Deanne Levander
Candidate for Director
Deanne Levander began her career after securing a documentation specialist position in the MIS Department of an international process manufacturer. Deanne has been a long-time leader in the Twin Cities Community of STC, including the 54th Annual Conference hospitality manager, past community president, and manager of several years of the International Summit Awards. She is an STC Fellow, the recipient of the Twin Cities Community Distinguished Chapter Service Award, the Society Outstanding Service Award, and an STC-Twin Cities Technical Publications award. In addition, Deanne was the recipient of her company’s annual volunteer service award, due to her varied volunteer work through the years.
Her career has been built through a variety of industries including super-computer manufacturing, meteorology, public transportation, biomedical manufacturing, insurance, and finance. Currently, Deanne is a member of a Technical Writing Department that supports a bank’s technologies. Deanne’s service to the Society has centered on her role as mentor to aspiring writers and community members. She has cheerfully and enthusiastically accepted all requests for help with career development and Society activity.
Outside of the office, Deanne spends time hanging out in the woods, walking, reading, cooking, being a host mom to international students from a local college, rescuing lost dogs, and a volunteer for a local non-profit international music venue.
Candidate Statement:
Joining STC in 1984, I have held many local STC positions and more recently have held Society positions (generally related to the STC International Summit Awards Competition). I believe it is through participation we develop our skills and network as well as serve the Society. As an STC Director, I will bring enthusiasm, encouragement, and motivation to help strengthen the Society’s contributions to our profession.
