Michael Opsteegh
Candidate for Director
Michael Opsteegh has been an active member of STC since 2002 and has served in various leadership capacities within Orange County, his local chapter. Michael has worked as a technical writer in the financial services and software industries where he has enjoyed a variety of related job functions, which have included management, document design, technical illustration, editing, usability testing, project management, and social media guru. Michael holds a masters degree in English, rhetoric, and composition and a graduate certificate in technical and professional writing from California State University, Long Beach. He has written articles on comics and typography in technical communication that have appeared in STC’s Intercom. Michael has been a presenter at community meetings across North America and at the 2011 STC Summit.
Michael has served two terms each as treasurer, membership chair, newsletter editor, and president within the Orange County chapter. He is vitally aware of the issues facing chapter leaders, STC members, and the profession in general.
