Does anyone else have to keep rejoining the group?

I have had to. But I think it is because there is more than one group to join. I am also in the Scholastic group as I am a student. I am also a member, as my what was then my Technical and Professional Writing advisor advised me to join.....

Yes, it keeps happening to me too. I opened a support item here: http://getsatisfaction.com/sfortc/topics/cant_stay_in_group

Please be sure to add your info to the support item.

I joined previously and it didn't stick. I'll add a note to the comments on the support site.

If any of you notice any upcoming STC webinars or courses on these topics specifically, be sure to post here and let us know. I can use all the help I can get. I'll do the same.

I am going to San Francisco State. I was interested early on on their course about online technical writing. I have heard that they last offered this class in 2009. I am greatly disappointed to hear that they wouldn't be offering the course any longer. Does anybody know if there is a course through another college that I can take if this falls through???I live in South San Francisco, CA and have the internet. it has to be accredited and something I could do concurrently through SF State.

I found the course description: Standards and methods for designing, writing, producing technical information presented in electronic formats, such as online help, support websites, interactive demos. Learn basics of a widely used software tool.

If you ask the manager of the Academic SIG (http://www.stc.org/about-stc/communities/special-interest-groups/item/academic?category_id=38) to post an inquiry on the Academic SIG list for a course covering these topics that you could take for credit, you may find something.

Thanks, Ann. I will look into it. I will save your email and talk to my advisor about it. You have the title Dr. --what is your Doctorate in???? Technical Writing?? (one can hope)

UCSD Extension has an online course in Technical Writing. I taught an online course in copyediting for them recently and know that their online courses are rigorous and accredited. I'm sure the credit would transfer to SF State.

Thanks for the advice about the UC San Diego online course in their Extension program. I will definitely look into it...

My doctorate is in instructional development, and I have a master's in library science. Technical communication is a very broad field...

I've already been asked to write one user manual as a wiki and am now presented with the challenge of transferring our corporate style guide to the same format. We'll see how that goes.

Just thought I'd say hi to the group!
