The Orlando Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication was formed in 1977 and is a group dedicated to serving the needs of technical communicators within the greater Orlando area and beyond.

The Southwestern Ohio Chapter is made up of individuals who encompass all areas of technical communication and range in experience. Its members also work in many different industries -such as software development, hardware manufacturing, research, training, electronics, and telecommunications—as consultants, employees, and independent contractors.

The Toronto, Ontario Community, formerly the Toronto Chapter, was formed in 1959 and currently has almost 250 members. The Toronto, Ontario Community promotes clear, concise, and audience-focused technical communications. Its members include technical writers, editors, technical illustrators and technical communicators of all kinds. It provides technical communicators with opportunities for professional development on current tools, trends, and methodologies. It maintains a sense of community through networking opportunities and its job bank, sharing professional job opportunities with members.

Established in 2009, the Content Strategy SIG is home to STC members practicing as content strategists or wanting to learn more about this emerging field.

The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is the world's largest professional organization for people involved in technical communication. The Lone Star Community (LSC) is one of the largest communities in the U.S., drawing members from all over the Dallas- Fort Worth Metroplex area.

STC's Los Angeles Chapter offers opportunities for networking with technical communication professionals in a convivial atmosphere.

In June of 1990, the Snake River Chapter was formed in Boise, Idaho to serve technical communicators throughout the southwestern portion of Idaho and the eastern part of Oregon.

The Emerging Technologies SIG monitors the ever-expanding uses of technology in technical communication. New tools such as hypermedia, online editing, and multimedia systems are changing the way technical communicators work.

The Australia Chapter was formed in 2001, with the goal of providing Australian STC members with an opportunity to initiate and become involved in local activities and to discuss local issues.

The STC Central Iowa Community, chartered in 1986 as the STC Des Moines Chapter, today includes over 70 technical communicators throughout Iowa. STC-Central Iowa meets September through May, offering programs in tools and technology, team communications, project management, and other topics that help our members acquire and develop the skills to stay marketable in the workplace.

STC Canada West Coast has 270 members who belong to our chapter and work in high-tech industries, health care, the resource industries, the legal system, utilities, and government.

The Berkeley California chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) was founded in 1987 and has a current membership of approximately 70. It strives to meet the needs of Bay Area technical communicators by providing an environment for learning and networking. It maintains a website, publishes a newsletter, holds monthly meetings, and participates in regional activities like the Touchstone technical communication competition and the Kenneth Gordon Scholarship. The Consulting & Independent Contracting SIG serves is a nexus for STC information about practicing TC as an independent consultant.

Chicago is one STC's oldest and largest chapters. Members include technical writers & editors, content developers, instructional designers, academics, usability experts, web designers & developers, and translators. Founded in 1955, STC Chicago has a rich tradition of providing diverse educational and networking experiences to technical communication professionals, as well as cultivating relationships between academia and industry.

The East Bay Chapter turns 50 this year! Established in 1962, the East Bay Chapter serves members in the corridor of Highways 580 and 680 in the San Francisco, East Bay Area. More than 40 members work in such diverse fields as software application development, hardware manufacturing, research, electronics, and telecommunications. Technical Communicators can find resources, solutions, jobs, professional connections, and friendship with the East Bay Chapter.
