Many STC groups are creating LinkedIn groups as one of their communication channels. Just tonight I learned that there is a limit of 50 groups in LinkedIn. I didn't know that and wanted to share. Theoretically, there are a number of STC LinkedIn groups you could join. Then there are all the non-STC LinkedIn groups out there. I wonder if some members could hit a limit that they didn't expect.
Perhaps some have a LinkedIn offering that they could easily merge with another?
Anyway, it's good to have a warning that there is a limit.
My main idea was that you can "circumvent" the maximum of 50 groups, if you participate (without joining) an "open" group.
See http://learn.linkedin.com/groups/#open-groups for details.

I had invited someone to a group, but she had to unsubscribe from another group to join mine because she had reached her limit.
I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean no more than 50 subgroups under the main Society for Technical Communication group? Most of the chapter groups aren't under that umbrella.
Do you mean that you're allowed to join no more than 50 groups?
