Impromptu get-together
Discussion started by Richard Mateosian , on 22 November 04:59 PM

The Berkeley Chapter usually meets on the second Wednesday of each month but the chapter leadership has decided not to hold a December meeting. That means that Wednesday, December 8, is free.

I'd like to see if anyone is interested in an informal get-together somewhere in downtown Berkeley or near the Rockridge BART station. I don't want to make advance commitments, but I'm sure there are places that could easily accommodate an impromptu gathering on a Wednesday evening.

Any ideas?

Richard,

Way back when we were all asked to look for meeting places to replace the Shattuck Hotel, I investigated what is now the Nations Hamburger and Pie place on the corner of University and Grant. If they're still laid out the same way, they have a separate room that would easily hold a regular STC meeting. At that time, they said we could use the room for free if we had them provide the food.

An idea related to that would be to just reserve a big table in a restaurant. Traditionally, many Chinese restaurants have those big round tables. In the realm of Mexican food, Celia's, on the north side of the UC campus, has a lot of room. Then there's, dare I say it, Sizzler's, on San Pablo Ave., with their large salad bar and various meat/seafood dishes
