Hi, all! The latest issue of Ragged Left, the Berkeley STC newsletter, is hot off the press!

http://www.stc-berkeley.org/RaggedLeft/2012/RL_v25n03_Fall2012.htm

In this issue, we continue our special series on global STC chapters and investigate technical writing in India. To spice things up, guest writer Sarika Sharma introduces the number one pastime in India--cricket. And as usual, we review the great programs held by the Berkeley STC this past summer and fall.

Cheers, Gwen

Hi, all. The Spring edition of Ragged Left is out! http://www.stc-berkeley.org/RaggedLeft/2012/RL_v25n02_SPR2012.htm.

This issue features highlights of the STC summit in Chicago as well as summaries of our programs on plain language and ethnographic field research.

If you are a Berkeley STC member, or simply enjoy reading Ragged Left, please take our 10-question survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9RV3PVB.

Hi, Rick.

Nice job on the newsletter.

How did you create your link in the post above? I did mine manually with an html <a> tag. Is that how you did yours as well?

Cheers, Gwen

Hi Gwendolynee:

You're correct... tags (sometimes) have to be created by hand. But in other areas (such as when creating an event) you can cut/paste or use the editor shortcuts. And, still other edit areas have a quasi-WYSIWYG interface.

If you think that all this is highly confusing, and that MySTC should have a single, easy-to-use editing interface, (and if you feel it would be helpful if there were "help" pages for MySTC), please add your support and comments to this item: https://getsatisfaction.com/sfortc/topics/which_items_allow_what_formatting (note that this was first identified as an issue 9+ months ago).

I finally took a look at this. Rick, did you find the <a href="http://www.jomsocial.com/support/docs.html">documentation</a> helpful?

Gwendolynne BarrGwendolynne Barr on Friday, 08 June 2012 11:30

Hmmm, I forgot. No formatting in the replies.

Is this group a duplication of http://stc.org/mystc/groups/viewgroup/226-STC+Newsletter+Editors

I really think we only need a *single* group for newsletters.

The full list of newsletters *used* to be on the old STC wiki (see http://stc-carolina.org/stcwiki/index.php?title=STC_Community_Data for a FROZEN copy, hosted by the Carolina Chapter.

I have asked multiple times to have this information ported to the new STC.org site. If you agree, please add your voice to the GetSatsifaction feedback site: http://getsatisfaction.com/sfortc

Additionally, I have requested that all this information be added to each community's group page. Unfortunately, I was told that this too is not possible. However, as a workaround, group owners can add this information to their group's description, as illustrated here: http://stc.org/mystc/groups/viewgroup/20-Carolina

Nice list, Rick. It would be great to add an active tag. Sadly, some of the chapters listed are no longer around... the Netherlands, for example.

Wow thanks Gwendolynne. I wonder if headquarters has an exhaustive list anywhere? Maybe we should start one.

Hi, Jennifer. Thanks for setting this up. I just stumbled on it today. I wonder if all of the other editors know about it...
