The General Governance Group is designed to replace the current presidents' list as a forum for any discussion about governance.

The NorthBay Chapter serves technical communicators in Telecom Valley and includes Sonoma, Marin, Napa, and other counties in Northern California. Although the NorthBay Chapter is among the smallest chapters within STC's Region 8 and has existed only since 1994, technology continues to grow in our area. It has opportunities for interaction and creativity that a larger chapter might not afford.

The San Gabriel Valley (SGV) Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) is an interactive organization where members and their guests can learn about the full spectrum of the art, technique, and business of technical communication. The professional, trade, and technical skills of members cover a wide range of experience and disciplines. About half of the members are self-employed as consultants; the other half are permanent employees. The monthly chapter meetings are open to the public. These meetings are generally held on the fourth Thursday of each month. Members are encouraged to attend the meetings and share their vision of the chapter's goals and activities.

Founded in 1988, our chapter's won STC's "Chapter Achievement Award" three times and the "Pacesetter Award" in 1997. Our newsletter also won awards in STC's Chapter Newsletter Competition three times, including a "Best of Show" award. But times have changed, and the chapter is in need of some revitalization. Come help us make this chapter as vibrant as it once was... and even more so!

The Belgian Chapter was founded on March 6, 1997 by five enthusiastic technical communicators. Since then it has grown to a group of some 50 members and in 1998 won an award for the fastest growing chapter. STC Belgium members include technical writers and editors, educators and students, graphic artists and technical illustrators, independent consultants and contractors, managers and supervisors, multimedia artists, photographers and audiovisual specialists, and translators.

The Heartland Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) is formally known as STC—Heartland: Omaha/Lincoln Community of the Society for Technical Communication. This Chapter covers eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, including the cities of Lincoln, Omaha, and Council Bluffs.

Middle Tennessee members come from many area businesses, from contracting agencies, and from their own firms. Among them are technical writers and editors, graphic designers and artists, Web developers, multimedia developers, and a host of other communication professions.
