The Washington, DC Chapter was chartered in December 1955 to provide education, networking, and job placement assistance services to technical communication professionals and employers. This group merged with the Metropolitan Baltimore Chapter in April 2011 to become the Washington DC - Baltimore Chapter. We serve a wide geographic area which includes Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and some parts of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. A discussion group for the United Kingdom and Ireland chapter of STC

The Twin Cities Community provides user documentation and training guides for a variety of industries including finance, insurance, manufacturing, biomedical engineering, and more. Over 400 communication professionals and enthusiasts have joined our community (along with 14,000 worldwide STC members) to share their knowledge and experience with others, and to learn from their fellow members.

STC TransAlpine serves technical communication professionals in several different European countries including Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland. Members develop information products in a variety of European languages, including English. Our Local Interest Groups serve members in particular regions with short informal meetings and provide useful networking opportunities on a local level.

The Toronto, Ontario Community, formerly the Toronto Chapter, was formed in 1959 and currently has almost 250 members. The Toronto, Ontario Community promotes clear, concise, and audience-focused technical communications. Its members include technical writers, editors, technical illustrators and technical communicators of all kinds. It provides technical communicators with opportunities for professional development on current tools, trends, and methodologies. It maintains a sense of community through networking opportunities and its job bank, sharing professional job opportunities with members.

The Southwestern Ontario Chapter builds skills via volunteering for chapter and community activities; publishes an award-winning monthly newsletter; and sponsors a professional competition.

The Southwestern Ohio Chapter is made up of individuals who encompass all areas of technical communication and range in experience. Its members also work in many different industries -such as software development, hardware manufacturing, research, training, electronics, and telecommunications—as consultants, employees, and independent contractors.

The Southern Nevada chapter first met in April of 1986. Since then, its presence in southern Nevada has been steadily growing to serve all areas in southern Nevada (it also has a few members in St. George, UT.)

The Southeastern Michigan Chapter provides learning and networking opportunities for local technical communicators, while supporting the international STC organization. STC/SM members generally live and work across a broad range of Southern Michigan and Northern Ohio—from Jackson and Lansing to Saginaw, Flint, and Port Huron—with a majority of our members concentrated in the metro Detroit and Ann Arbor areas. STC/SM Chapter members work in a variety of specialized, professional communication roles, including experienced full-time and part-time employees, consultants/contractors, students, and others new to the field of technical communication.

Founded in 1988, our chapter's won STC's "Chapter Achievement Award" three times and the "Pacesetter Award" in 1997. Our newsletter also won awards in STC's Chapter Newsletter Competition three times, including a "Best of Show" award. But times have changed, and the chapter is in need of some revitalization. The San Gabriel Valley (SGV) Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) is an interactive organization where members and their guests can learn about the full spectrum of the art, technique, and business of technical communication. The professional, trade, and technical skills of members cover a wide range of experience and disciplines. About half of the members are self-employed as consultants; the other half are permanent employees. The monthly chapter meetings are open to the public. These meetings are generally held on the fourth Thursday of each month. Members are encouraged to attend the meetings and share their vision of the chapter's goals and activities.

The mission of the Society for Technical Communication is to advance the theory and practice of technical communication across all user abilities and media. The mission of the San Francisco chapter is to: - Promote the arts and sciences of technical communication in the San Francisco Bay Area - Promote career development in the technical communication profession for our members, other colleagues, and students of technical communication - Promote respect, increased public awareness, and appreciation of the technical communication profession

Over 20 years, STC Sacramento has experimented vigorously in providing all kinds of services to members and to the community. Members work in high tech, health care, and government. We also have a growing number of student members, and some of us are full- or part-time teachers.

The diverse membership of the Rocky Mountain Chapter (RMC) of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) includes writers, editors, usability professionals, information architects, illustrators, printers, publishers, educators, students, engineers, and scientists employed in a variety of technological fields.
