STC Loses Two Greats

STC lost two former presidents recently, as Suzanna Laurent passed away on 26 December 2011 and Janis Hocker passed away on 14 January 2012. Read more about Suzanna and Janis on STC's Notebook. We offer our condolences to the families of both women.

STC Election Website is Live

The STC Election website is live, with information about the candidates running for each position (vice president, secretary, director, and nominating committee). There is a form to fill out to ask questions of the candidates, and audio podcasts will be posted shortly with those candidates that participated. This year's election is an important one. Familiarize yourself with the candidates and make sure your voice is heard in the upcoming elections.

Membership Update

Have you renewed your membership to STC yet? All memberships operate on a calendar year basis, so no matter when you joined or last renewed, your membership expired on 31 December. We are currently in a grace period for membership, but you must renew soon. In addition, you must renew by 29 February to be eligible to vote in the STC election. Visit the STC website to make sure you're where it all comes together in 2012.

Conference Update

Time flies, and May will be here sooner than we know it. And so will the 2012 Summit, taking place 20-23 May in Rosemont, IL! The preliminary program is posted on the Summit website, so take a look to see all the great sessions available. Registration is currently $925 through 30 March, so be sure to sign up before then! Note: the G8 and NATO summits are taking place in downtown Chicago right before our Summit. We do not anticipate any issues in Rosemont, but recommend attendees make hotel and airline reservations early. See the Summit website for more information.

Introducing "A Community Affair"

The Community Affairs Committee (CAC) has started its own regular blog post on STC's Notebook, titled A Community Affair. The CAC will be writing throughout the year on issues and subjects important to STC communities. Read the first installment here.

Webinar Sale Extended through 29 February

Due to the feedback we received on the webinar sale, we've decided to extend it another month! Register for any webinar currently on the STC website by 29 February, and members pay only $59, down from $79. There are currently 10 upcoming webinars to choose from, with more added shortly. And don't forget to check out STC's Certificate Courses as well for more in-depth education. Advance your career with live online education from STC.

Links of Interest

STC's Notebook provides a weekly set of Links of Interest most Fridays, with links to blogs and articles discovered through Twitter, emails, and other means over the previous week.
