The President’s Award honors one or more persons or institutions that have made distinguished contributions to the profession or the Society. The STC President announces the names of the recipients during the opening session of the Society’s annual conference. The President’s Award is granted at the discretion of the President and may not be given every year.
This year, Cindy Currie honored two people with the President’s Award at the 2010 STC Summit on Monday, 3 May. Their citations are below.
For your unfailing leadership, dedication, wisdom, and insight while guiding the STC Board of Directors in the development, refinement, and execution of the 2007-2010 Strategic Plan.
For your tireless effort working with the United States Department of Labor, which resulted in the recognition of technical writers as a profession distinct from all other writing professions. Your tremendous contribution provides an unbiased and respected voice confirming STC’s longtime position before employers and human resource departments.
