THIS IS A ONE DAY WORKSHOP. 

As the technical writing job market gets more competitive, seasoned and transitioning technical writers need to get through the online systems and stand out to hiring managers. This workshop covers what technical writing hiring managers expect in application materials, what to include in a resume, hands-on writing and formatting instruction, and answers to common job search questions.

At the end of this workshop, through presentations and group breakouts, attendees will learn:

  • Why technical writing resumes are different.
  • How to present a resume as a work sample in Microsoft Word and Google Docs.
  • How to increase the chances that your resume gets seen by both hiring managers and works in most online application systems.
  • How to balance attractive design with simplicity for readability.
  • How to write resume and cover letter statements that demonstrate transferable skills.
