Homework assignments will be due on the day and time specified by the instructor. There will be at least one live session for students to ask the instructor questions in real time. 

Description

What skills and experiences do you need to become a scientific or medical communicator? How do you develop a career strategy for becoming competitive in your field? This course will help you learn more about careers in scientific and medical communication, familiarize yourself with common in these fields, and aid your professionalization as a scientific or medical communicator. You will learn how to:

  1. Analyze the fields of scientific and medical communication
  2. Produce documents in scientific or medical genres
  3. Determine skills or experiences that would make you a competitive candidate for positions as a scientific or medical communicator
  4. Apply for positions as a scientific or medical communicator

This 4-week course will help prepare you for the genres you will encounter in scientific and medical communication, as well as familiarize yourself with this potential career path. As you work through the weekly modules, you will analyze what positions exist within scientific and medical communication, learn how you might be a competitive candidate for those positions, and practice producing scientific and medical content in multiple genres. Attendees will walk away knowing more about what it takes to succeed as a scientific or medical communicator.

  • Engaging in field research
  • Developing strategies for career professionalization
