    There have been no Board Meeting Minutes posted since May 2016 (nearly 9 months). See https://www.stc.org/board-meeting-summaries/

    STC Board Minutes

    As a result, it is difficult (if not impossible) for members to know what the Board is doing. Unfortunately, this is not a new issue. For many years, the Board would withhold minutes for several months at a time, then post them en masse when requested. With no secretary position being elected this year, what steps will you take to ensure that the Board regularly (and promptly) communicates with members?

    Thanks for your interest in this year’s election, Rick, and for your question! If it helps, you can find meeting summaries up to October 2016 at https://www.stc.org/wiki/governance/board-meeting-summaries/.

    Not being on the current board, I can’t explain why the most recent summaries aren’t available. I don’t mean to downplay your concern at all, but it’s possible there may be legitimate reasons. I’m following up on this. If elected, I would check that meeting summaries are made available as soon as appropriate.

    Thanks James for the link! I wonder why there are two separate (and different) pages for listing the minutes?

    Hi Rick,

    James and Liz have already commented with a link to a second page, and the staff is addressing this issue. For what it’s worth, I got to the page that James mentions by navigating on the STC website to Member Center » STC Governance and Election » Board Meeting Summaries.

    From a process perspective, meeting summaries are normally approved at the following month’s board meeting. Only after they are approved can they be made available. Sometimes meeting summaries are not approved in the immediate following month due to a variety of factors: board member availability, complexity of the board minutes, or corrections or research needed after the meeting. In the future, we’ll make every effort to post each set of minutes on its own as soon as they are approved.

    I will post back here when the minutes from Nov 16 – Jan 17 are posted early next week.
