Membership renewals for 2021 are now open. What can you expect from STC membership in the year ahead?
As you renew, you will see a new page to update your demographic information. You may have encountered this page when you first signed up with STC, but it’s now available with your renewal, as well. We encourage you to take a moment to review and make any updates to your information to help us get to know our membership a little better.
And for the first time, retired members can now renew their membership online! To qualify as a retired member, you must be a current member of STC with 10 years of membership, be 65 years of age or older, and work, on average, 20 hours per week or less. If you have questions about qualification, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For the 2021 membership season, STC has reorganized its Special Interest Groups (SIGs) into two categories: Communities of Practice (COPs) and Communities of Interest (COIs). Members have always enjoyed being a part of our SIGs and being able to network and share knowledge across the globe with other tech comm professionals with common experiences and interests in specific topics. We have aligned our SIGs into two operational models to better reflect the offerings that the SIGs provide to their members. SIGs that are Communities of Interest (COIs) will provide a channel for open communication and discussion, as well as other social media platforms. Our Communities of Practice (COPs) will provide a more in-depth experience for its membership that will include the same benefits as COIs, a robust website presence, and educational and additional networking opportunities. Dues will remain $10 for SIG COIs, and dues for COPs will be $15, which allows STC to better support COP programming for its members. A full listing of our SIGs can be found on STC’s communities page at www.stc.org/communities/.
We’ve added a few new Member Perks to our offerings for 2021 with companies that include ADP, Ace Hardware, Batteries & Bulbs, HP, Constant Contact, Sprint, as well as a benefit for rental assistance (coming soon!). As always, you can find the latest list of Member Perks by visiting www.stc.org/members/perks/ and logging into your STC account.
