Learning Experience Design (LXD): A Day in The Life
19 November 2020
11:30 AM EST (GMT-5)
Instructor: Linda Daniels
Creating amazing learning experiences that drive engagement and behavior change with measurement that matters is a tremendous, yet very rewarding undertaking. Before we can sketch out our first idea, we need to align a diverse group of stakeholders, as well as identify business and learning strategies with data driven insights to ensure achievement of goals based on needs analysis, organizational culture and structure, personas, change tolerance, trends, and incentives, not to mention the “adoptability” of modern learning. As information architects, we are problem solvers who focus on the overall opportunity to map out what is needed before we can design a plan on how to get there.
In this webinar we’ll talk about:
- How to get started identifying all the players involved with an initiative
- The critical need for good performance consulting
- Managing difficult conversations
- How to build credibility and trust with brand new teams
We will also review some of the steps, including Learner Journey Mapping, Experience Design, and Wireframing & Prototyping, as well as how having the right people in the room is critical to ensure success.
This is an opportunity to learn how user experience design and writing for training, instructional design, and technical writing come together.

During this webinar, Char James-Tanny will talk about things that we can do to make our documentation better for people with disabilities, such as improving color contrast ratios, using styles to create more accessible PDFs, adding captions to videos, and more.

From Technical Writer to CEO: What is your Content Mindset? Sponsored by 36Software
8 December 2020
1:00 PM EST
Instructor: Lisa Pietrangeli
How do your choices as a technical writer really impact your company? Chances are that the metrics your company cares about—revenue, profitability, customer retention, etc.—are not the same metrics that your job performance is measured by.
The question is, if your company recognizes that there are deficiencies or goals not being met, how do they weigh in the impact of the content you create? Is there a Content Mindset? If so, what is it?
In this discussion, we will explore some of the important ways that the content you create significantly impacts your company’s priorities and how your writing methods—content reuse and management (CCMS), specifically—can vastly improve how your company prioritizes you and what you do. Using SmartDocs as an example, we will illustrate some of the tangible benefits that a CCMS solution can bring to both your team and to your company’s bottom line.
