OASIS DITA TC Launches Technical Communication Subcommittee

The OASIS Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) Technical Committee has created a new DITA Technical Communication Subcommittee. The subcommittee's charter states that DITA was originally designed as an architecture for technical communication, but has evolved into a far greater solution for different areas. DITA now supports a growing number of industries and vertical markets through subcommittees that are responsible for their specializations, and as a result the technical communication specializations, including bookmap and the concept, reference, task, and glossary topic types, have been moved from the base DITA package into a new “tech comm” package. The Technical Communication Subcommittee was created to take ownership of the technical communication specializations, support new developments for technical communication, and provide ongoing maintenance of existing specializations.
