Another 40 STC Members Receive Recovery Packages

In February, STC ’s Notebook reported that over 200 members received Full or Subsidy Recovery Packages from STC to assist in 2010 membership payments, thanks to the Marian Norby Fund. The qualifications for these packages included being either unemployed or underemployed during the previous year.

A little later in the year, the Board learned that many members had hoped to renew their membership, but were still feeling the effects of unemployment or underemployment. For this reason, the Board voted to reopen the Recovery Package application process during the month of March. Notice of the application process was published on the STC website, put on the RSS feed, posted on the STC ’s Notebook blog, and emailed directly to all members.

The Board of Directors is delighted to report that another 40 members have received Recovery Packages, bringing the total number of participants to 244. As with the first round, the Recovery Packages were fully funded by a grant from the Marian Norby Fund. Marian Norby was a longtime and valued STC member; the Marian Norby Fund was established through a donation in her will, after her death in 2002.

The Recovery Package Task Force was made up of past STC presidents: Ken Cook, Suzanna Laurent, Linda Oestreich, and Mary Wise. The Board extends many thanks for their time, talent, energy, and enthusiasm in support of this successful program.
