Building Better Solutions: A Skills Symposium in Rochester, NY

The Rochester Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication, in partnership with the Rochester Institute of Technology, is pleased to announce its annual Spectrum 2011 conference, Building Better Solutions: A Skills Symposium! This is the region's premier technical communications conference, being held on the RIT campus from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM EDT (GMT-4) on Friday, 1 April 2011.

Spectrum 2011 is the 52nd annual conference hosted by the chapter, and will feature presenters and vendors from the United States and Canada speaking on topics of interest to managers, information architects, instructional designers, technical writers and editors, technical marketing communicators, Web designers, graphic artists, and students. Each year, Spectrum attracts attendees from New York, Canada, and surrounding areas.

Diane Gayeski

Keynote speaker Diane Gayeski is internationally recognized for her pioneering work in new management approaches and technologies for organizational communications and learning. She will be sharing her insights from over 25 years of research and consulting on how to re-frame your communication skills and products as business assets. She is dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College, and through her firm, Gayeski Analytics, has led more than 350 consulting engagements for clients such as General Electric, Kodak, Xerox, Bank of Montreal, the U.S. Navy, and Fiat. Dr. Gayeski is the author of more than 100 articles and fourteen books, including Managing Learning and Communication Systems as Business Assets and Managing the Communication Function.

Spectrum 2011 offers sixteen educational sessions in four tracks: Management Methodologies, Workplace Skills, Professional Development, and Tools and Technologies, and a Vendor Track for product demos and education. Attendees can also visit exhibits by leading technical communication industry vendors and enjoy a luncheon which will honor winners of the Chapter Technical Publications Competition Awards.
