I’m currently serving on the STC Board of Directors. Why am I running again? This past year, I was elected to a one-year term, to complete another director’s term.

One year is not enough. I’ve made significant contributions this year as an STC director, but one more term will allow me to build on the progress we’ve started to make. Each director has a particular focus, in addition to helping set STC’s strategic direction. My focus has been working with community leaders, and helping to develop the current Community Affairs Committee (CAC). This committee has just begun to plant its seeds for the growth of current and future leaders of STC. I’ve also helped to develop the Leaders’ Resource Webinar series as part of the CAC. These webinars provide leadership training and inform community leaders about new developments in STC. So far there have been 10 Leaders’ Resource webinars, and the committee is working on plans to continue these webinars over the next year.

Leadership development is important to me because STC’s communities are important. Communities nurture and keep our members. If we do not have strong leaders, we do not have strong communities.

What do I hope to accomplish over the next two years?

  • To see that current and potential leaders get the training and resources they need.
  • To help develop an STC leadership community that fosters growth and mentorship. The community groups in STC’s new Web platform will provide a place where leaders can share ideas, templates, and expertise.
  • To help develop a library and archive of community leader resources, including webinars, best practices, and updated handbooks.

I’ve been working hard to help develop strong leaders and help our communities thrive. I know that there is a lot more work to be done. I feel exhausted (in a good way!) at the end of each week, knowing I’ve done as much as I can to ensure the growth of our leaders and the Society. I’ve made a commitment, and I’m doing my best to follow through on my promise.

I respectfully ask for your vote in this STC election, to help our communities thrive.
