Meet the Staff: Greg Larsen

We continue today with Meet the Staff. There are a few new staff members, so we thought it would be a good idea to introduce or reintroduce the entire staff to STC members. This will also give those going to the Summit a way to get to know the people you’ll be seeing all over the place running things, so feel free to come up and say hi. We’ll post one every week or so for the next few months. You’re welcome to pose questions for the staffer as well, and we’ll try our best to answer. Today's subject is one of the newer staff members, Greg Larsen.

What's your name and title?
Greg Larsen, CFO.

What is your area of expertise?
Financial management.

Titles are one thing—what do you actually *do* at STC?
I make sure the office runs smoothly behind the scenes, keeping an eye on all administrative aspects of the Society with extra emphasis on financial oversight.

What have you done in previous jobs that prepared you for this job?
I began at the bottom in a CPA firm back in 1987. Almost all of my experience came working with not-for-profits and local governments. I’ve been part of and experienced all aspects of the operations of these types of organizations.

What do you do when you're not hard at work for STC?
Read, work out, watch sports, meditate, spend time with family and friends.

Can you tell us about an odd talent or skill you're particularly proud of?
I’m very fond of my experience with improvisational acting and stage acting in general.

Any final thoughts or comments?
I enjoy my job and the challenge which comes from assessing how things are, how to make them better, and then putting in place the systems which lead to the improvement.
