STC Carolina Offering FREE Meeting: How to Make It Rain on Yourself Even During a Dry Spell

STC Carolina is opening up their June monthly meeting for free to all interested attendees; this meeting is available both in person and online on Thursday, 23 June at 6:00 PM EDT (GMT-4). Highlighting the meeting is the presentation by STC Fellow John Hedtke, Seeding the Clouds: How to Make it Rain on Yourself Even During a Dry Spell.

“Whether you’re a captive or a contractor, if you’re looking for work or you think you might be looking for work soon, this presentation will present dozens of ideas that can improve your own financial outlook, including:

  • how to be more competitive when you’re looking for work
  • ways to prime the pump for future work
  • how to make yourself more visible to potential employers
  • new places to find work
  • new types of technical communication to try
  • ways to keep your spirits up while job-hunting

Even if you’re already fully employed and aren’t feeling at risk, this presentation will tell you ways in which you can lend a hand to others and ensure their future success and your own immortality.”

Even though the event is free, you must register with STC Carolina. See the event home page for more information and to register.

(Networking starts at 6:00 PM for in-person attendance; the presentation is scheduled for 6:30 PM.)

  1. You are so right when you stress the importance of the resume and portfolio. We just finished a round of interviews and some of the resumes and portfolios were appalling. One portfolio had dozens, possibly hundreds, of errors and inconsistencies in grammar and formatting. I wanted to tell all these applicants they need to find editors.

So, what are the ethical implications? Should we give the still-unemployed some feedback about where they could improve?
