Three Certificate Courses Added to Upcoming Schedule

Last month, STC started accepting registrations for a half dozen certificate courses in the coming weeks. Today three more certificate courses join the ranks, including one of our most popular courses and a brand-new course on an important topic.

First on the list is the ever-popular TechComm 101, presented by Leah Guren and taking place Mondays from 22 August to 10 October. TechComm 101 is the fastest, most efficient way to jump-start your career in technical communication. It covers key theory that you can immediately apply to your work, as well as giving you the skills you need to continue to learn and grow.

If you've already taken TechComm 101 or need the next step, then Leah is also presenting TechComm 201, on Tuesdays from 25 October through 29 November. This is a more advanced course that moves beyond the basic theory in TechComm 101. The focus is on soft skills, such as estimating and managing technical communication projects and working with SMEs; and technical skills, such as advanced editing, professional tool concepts, and Help Authoring concepts.

And STC's newest certificate course is Writing for Localization: Hands-on Workshop and Best Practices, presented by Lisa Pietrangeli. We expect a high turnout for this course so we've created two timeslots: Tuesdays at 7:00-8:30 PM EDT (GMT-4) from 6 September to 11 October; or Wednesdays at 10:30 AM-Noon EDT (GMT-4) from 7 September to 12 October.  In this certificate course, you will learn the difference between Translation, Localization, and Internationalization; learn best practices with writing methods and content management; and learn about the tools of the translation industry.

Don't forget about the previously announced certificate courses, too! They include:

Technical Editing Fundamentals (12 August-23 September, Michelle Corbin and Linda Oestreich: Last chance to sign up!)
Undiscovered Country: Master Writer (6 September-4 October, Sharon Burton)
DITA from Legacy to the Future (8 September-7 October, Bernard Aschwanden)
Managing Virtual Teams (13-29 September, Kit Brown-Hoekstra)
Tech Comm Manager (13 October-17 November, Saul Carliner)
Instructional Design for e-Learning (2 November-14 December, Phylise Banner)

Space is limited, so sign up today!
