Podcast Interview on the STC Salary Database

Earlier this week, Your Friendly Neighborhood Blogger sat down with Rick O'Sullivan and Mark Clifford to discuss the STC Salary Database. Rick is an economist for STC with 25 years experience working with government statistics and formerly an appointed advisor to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statitics for 20 years, while Mark is a former STC president and currently the owner and president of Clifford Sells, a technical communication recruiting and consulting company. Rick is also the man behind the STC Salary Database, taking the statistics provided by the U.S. government and organizing, evaluating, and summarizing them for the publication.

Over the course of 40 minutes, Rick and Mark answered a number of questions, ranging from what's included in the Salary Database, the importance of the statistics used, and how to use the report to start, evolve, or benefit your career. They discuss the geographic, professional, and positional information included in the Database and the many ways it can be used.

The podcast is available in both WMV format and MP3 format, so click on the links and listen in! Or click the embedded audio below!

Edited to add: See the Salary Database page on the STC website for more information (including a free excerpt!) or to purchase.

    1. What browser are you in that the audio starts playing automatically? I took a screenshot of the admin side of WordPress (http://notebook.stc.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/podcast-screenshot.jpg) that shows the Auto Start option is unclicked.

Are others getting audio auto-started? If so, please let me know and I’ll remove the embedded audio. But for me, I have to click on it to play.

And finally, while I respect your opinion, there’s no need to phrase it the way you did, including the insulting email address you associated with the comment. Let’s keep things civil, please.
