STC Introduces Virtual Conference on 9 November

Join STC and host/moderator Saul Carliner for the virtual conference Applying Research in Practice on Wednesday, 9 November, from 10:30 AM-4:00 PM EST (GMT-5). This unique, day-long, online event will summarize recent research in areas that are of interest to technical communicators. Conference topics will include research in three areas:

  • Social Media and Technical Communication
  • Impact of New Technologies on the Technical Communication Processes
  • Issues on Communicating Online

Registration costs $195 for members, $495 for Not Yet Members, and $125 for student members. A preliminary program, with session titles and presenters, is available on the virtual conference site, and more information will be available soon.   1. This is one of the best initiatives in a long while. Congratulations, Saul and whoever else has been involved.

    It’s a shame some of us who work on committees like the CAC didn’t know in advance (I didn’t, anyway) so we could help publicize it.

  2. I’m glad that STC has organized an online conference. For those who can’t get away to the annual STC conference, this might be a good alternative. That being said, $195 for a one-day online conference seems quite expensive. I hope that the cost for members can be reduced for future events.
