Community to Community: Missouri S&T Student Chapter Takes Part in Miner-Rama

Community to Community is a series of blog posts meant to share great ideas between STC’s chapters and SIGs. If your community is doing something you’d like to share with others, please email me and we’ll get it posted! This post is written by Melissa Hollingshead, president of the Missouri University of Science and Technology student chapter, and discusses their participation in the annual “Miner-Rama” student festival. Your Friendly Neighborhood Blogger thought other student chapters (as well as chapters near colleges and universities) might be interested in borrowing the idea in the future and asked Melissa to share!

The Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) Miner-Rama events have come to a close. Miner-Rama is put on every year for student organizations and businesses in the area. Since we are in the process of becoming a recognized student organization, we were allowed to participate.

We had a wonderful time talking to students about STC. This was a fantastic way to promote STC and our student organization. A fun addition was personalized “Smarties” that we handed out to the students. I am really happy to announce that we received a great response. We handed out over 100 brochures. I have a list of students who want me to contact them with more information.

This experience was both affordable and successful. We look forward to getting our constitution approved and becoming a recognized organization on the Missouri S&T campus.
