“Read the owner's manual” is a common first step for how-to guidance. AMC is taking that advice and turning it into a competition with the new TV series Owners Manual, debuting on 15 August at 10:00 PM EDT (GMT-4). The show explores the simple question of, “To live or not to live by by the book.”
The two stars of the show are each tasked with completing a difficult assignment. The catch is that one reads the owners manual while the other one doesn't. In the first episode the two are tasked with flying a stunt plane over the Pacific Ocean, while the second episode (a half hour later) sees them trying to attach rail cars to a 142-ton locomotive for a drive into town without losing the caboose. Future activities include sailing a 136-foot-tall ship, racing off-road buggies in the desert, brewing beer at Kona Brewery Co., logging in Oregon, exploding rock and processing it at a basalt rock quarry, and assembling an iconic ride at an amusement park.
