The STC community budgeting and funding process for 2014 is officially under way, and we want to help make the process as painless as possible! On Wednesday, 16 October, from 2:00-3:00 PM EDT (GMT -4), join STC Chief Financial Officer Greg Larsen and STC Treasurer Jane Wilson for a review of the process steps and timeline.

Topics will include:

  • How to calculate and receive funding under the partial pass-through community funding model
  • Other financial reporting required as part of the Community Success Plan (Annual Financial Report and IRS 990 Reporting)
  • Resources available to assist you in the budgeting process

What: Membership Matters—Every Member Matters Webinar by Lori Meyer

About the Speakers

Greg Larsen, CPA, is STC’s chief financial officer. Greg began his career in 1987 working for a certified public accounting firm. Since then, he has worked in all aspects of accounting and finance for not-for-profit organizations. His experience includes auditing, budgeting, cash management, and accounting functions from beginning through financial-statement presentation. Prior to joining STC, he worked as the CFO for a variety of not-for-profits. Most recently, Greg was a manager of outsources accounting with Tate & Tryon, where he served 501 (c) 3, 4, and 6 clients in the Washington, DC metro area.

Lori Meyer designs, writes, and edits software documentation and online user assistance. She currently serves as co-manager of the Technical Editing SIG, vice president-programming for the East Bay chapter, director-at-large for the Carolina chapter, and as membership manager for the Rochester and San Diego chapters.  In 2009, Lori received the Distinguished Chapter Service Award, and in 2012 was named an STC Associate Fellow.

Jane Wilson has been a technical communicator since 1998 and a member of STC since 2002. She belongs to the Atlanta Chapter, where she served as treasurer for five years. She is also a new member of the East Bay chapter since she relocated to California in May 2013. Jane currently works at the GE Global Research at the Software Center of Excellence in San Ramon, where she is part of the development group creating a new platform for GE software engineering. Jane earned a BS in industrial management from Georgia Tech, an MA in English from the University of Florida, and a PhD in English from the University of Georgia.
