Community Spotlight: Eastern Iowa Chapter Visits Mount Mercy University

The Eastern Iowa Chapter recently held a college night at the local Mount Mercy University, the third straight year they've held such an event. Chapter members Liz Herman, Charles Crawley, Michelle Felser, and Michael O'Neill all visited MMU on Tuesday, 8 October, for networking, dinner, and a presentation titled Technical Communication: An Employment Opportunity for College Students.

The description for the event said, “Are you looking for a career that uses your writing skills and ability to learn about new subjects and technologies? If so, you’ll want to attend this meeting. Four veteran technical communicators will describe how they got into the business and what it involves. You’ll be able to ask questions and network with other technical communication professionals.”

Joe Sheller, an associate Professor at Mount Mercy, blogged about the event afterwards. He focused on the message that technical communication is a growing field and the panel's suggestion for students to “get out there and write.” Read all of Professor Sheller's comments on his blog.

Congratulations to the Eastern Iowa Chapter for holding such a great event!
