STC Bylaws Update: Change to Qualifications for Office

At the Annual Business Meeting on Monday in Phoenix during the Summit, then-President Nicky Bleiel announced that the Board of Directors voted to update the qualifications for running for STC office.

Previously, members running for office (Board of Directors or Nominating Committee) needed to be a Senior Member, meaning five or more consecutive years of membership. After the bylaw change, the requirement is for just one year of STC membership. Length of membership is just one of the many criteria used by the Nominating Committee, so this change allows for candidates who are strong in other areas to still be considered.
