This entry is being posted on behalf of Robert Perry, candidate for Director in the 2017 STC election. More information about Robert can be found on his STC election page.
My name is Robert Perry and I am running for a Director position. I have been a proud and active member of STC for over 25 years and have served in a variety of leadership roles in both the Carolina and New York Metro chapters.
During my recent tenure as President of the Carolina Chapter, I successfully inspired and invigorated an already active and respected chapter to move to the next level. Through hard work and dedication, we were able to accomplish more activities and tasks to further the message and goals of the Society and our Chapter. It was exhilarating to be honored as a Community of Distinction and ultimately the Community of the Year under my leadership. I was also honored with a Distinguished Chapter Service Award, and became an Associate Fellow in 2016.
Over the years, I have enjoyed watching the field of technical communication grow and expand into so many different areas and opportunities, and become more respected and recognized. I thoroughly enjoy what I do and can’t imagine a more perfect fit and career for myself. STC has played a large role in my success over the years and I would like to continue giving back to the organization.
I have a continued history of successful leadership in STC, at work, and other professional and personal endeavors. I am now looking for opportunities within the Society to continue working for and advocating STC. I consider STC to be an important and pivotal asset of my career and I would like to be a part of its continued growth in numbers and respect in the industry. I enjoy meeting and working with other leaders and members of the STC and chapters and believe that serving STC as a Director would be both satisfying and rewarding.
My accomplishments have been based on my innate ability to provide direction, develop and implement plans, and motivate people to get the job done well and on time. Over the years, I have developed a process and demeanor to confer with and obtain the necessary information and cooperation from other team members as necessary to get the job done. I take great pride in my work and the STC, and I put a lot of time and energy in ensuring projects and ideas are cultivated, implemented, and fully realized. The Society has played a large role in my success over the years and I would like to return a little of what I have received by continuing to play a role in its success.
I would be honored to serve as a Director and would be extremely grateful for your support.
