STC is pleased to announce the Conference Co-Chairs for the 2019 Technical Communication Summit & Expo: Nicky Bleiel and Cindy Currie! STC President Jane Wilson hailed the selections, saying:
“We are thrilled to have Cindy and Nicky at the helm the 2019 Summit! They have proposed some fascinating ideas for a cohesive and interactive program, and, as an attendee myself, I am looking forward to exciting educational options. I can't wait to see everyone in Denver!”
Nicky is a Past President and Director of STC, as well as an Associate Fellow. She has served in many other STC volunteer roles, including competition judge, Summit proposal reviewer, member of the Intercom Editorial Advisory Panel, Technical Communication journal reviewer, and Pittsburgh Chapter President.
Cindy is also an STC Past President. She is an STC Fellow, a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and holds two industry certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) and PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP). Cindy has been a frequent speaker at STC’s Summit since 1991, and many local and regional STC conferences throughout the years.
Nicky and Cindy had this to say about their selection:
“We are absolutely delighted to be co-chairing the 2019 Summit Conference Committee together—as long-standing STC colleagues—and being able to continue our service to STC in this important role!
Our overall vision is to enhance the visibility, viability, and reach of the STC Summit. Our key goals are to:
1) Increase conference attendance by offering more sessions of higher and broader relevance to attendees;
2) Broaden the scope of the conference to include sessions and workshops on timely topics, including Agile, IT security, regulatory compliance, project and program management, and advanced leadership, including career paths for technical communicators (don’t worry, the core tracks, such as tools and technologies and core skills won’t be going away!); and
3) Partner with one or more PMI chapters to expand the session and workshop offerings in the project management and leadership area, among many, many others. We are bursting with ideas and look forward to building a strong program team to contribute to and support carrying them out!”
Congratulations again to Nicky and Cindy! We can’t wait to see the conference program they’re cooking up!
