The following STC honor and award nomination due dates have been extended to 30 November.  Please refer to the individual award pages on STC’s website for complete information about submitting nominations.

Associate Fellow and Fellow:

Any Associate Fellow from 2016 or earlier may submit their application for Fellow. Refer to the What is a Fellow? page for guidelines and the application.

Any STC member who has been a senior member since 2013 may be nominated, or nominate themselves, for Associate Fellow. Refer to the What is an Associate Fellow? page for guidelines and the application.

Ken Rainey Award for Excellence in Research:

Ken Rainey was a professor at Southern Polytechnic State University and STC Fellow who produced major research studies that continue to provide ongoing benefit to both practice and teaching in the field of technical communication. The Ken Rainey Award honors research that has made positive, significant contributions to technical communication practice and teaching. It rewards a lifetime of quality research in the field, a single high-quality empirical study, or a set of related high-quality studies. Jay R. Gould Award for Excellence in Teaching Technical Communication:

This award honors true academic mentorship; a record of successful students, defined as those who are involved in STC, and actively working in the profession; involvement in student activities outside of the classroom; innovation and creativity in teaching, and involvement in research that leads to changes in the way technical communication is taught.

The Distinguished Community Service Awards recognize the hard work and commitment of STC’s community leaders. The three awards-Distinguished Chapter Service Award, Distinguished SIG Service Award, and Distinguished Service Award for Students-recognize an individual’s exemplary effort, energy, and dedication to their community and its activities. This is the highest level of recognition that a member can receive for service to their community. See the Distinguished Community Service Awards  page on STC’s website for more information.
