This entry is being posted on behalf of Jack Molisani, candidate for Nominating Committee in the 2021 STC election.
I’ve been a Technical Writer since the late 1980s. Look at how much our industry has changed since then! On the other hand, the core skills that make a good communicator hasn’t changed: we need critical thinking skills, investigation skills, and, of course, written communication skills.
Running for Society office, however, requires yet additional skills: organizational skills, conflict resolution skills, consensus building, and more.
As the a business owner, I know what it takes to run an organization—in good times and bad. As the president of my STC chapter (and as the producer of the Year 2000 STC Region 7/8 Pan Pacific Conference), I have experienced firsthand the difference between managing employees and managing volunteers. I believe the best candidates for Society offices have experience with both.
I am running for Nominating Committee to help find the best and brightest stars who can lead the Society as we respond to ever-changing market conditions.
I believe my experience makes me well-qualified to do just that.
