This is the first of a series of 2022 Summit News blogs that will be posted in the upcoming weeks to bring you to most up-to-date news and announcements about our highly anticipated in-person 2022 Technical Communication Summit & Expo. We hope to see you in Rosemont, IL (just outside of Chicago), 15-18 May 2022!

The Summit is quickly approaching, and we’re looking forward to getting together in person to learn about the business of content. As technical communicators, content strategists, UX writers, and project managers, our work spans overlapping functions and multiple industries.

We’re delighted to bring you a program that not only covers the principles of planning and writing excellent content, but also dives into various ways you can apply your foundational tech comm skills in numerous roles. It’s an exciting time to work in content and communications!

Check out some of the new and different approaches our speakers are exploring in today’s market:

  • As marketing and technical communication continue to blend, the demand for strong communication, analytics, and technical skills is expanding. Huatong Sun and Xiaoli Li will discuss opportunities for content designers and technical communicators in live commerce. Lisa Godinez will talk about using one of marketing’s strongest tools, storytelling, to infuse clarity into our content and empower audiences to make informed decisions.
  • Understanding and communicating about current affairs in a straightforward way is essential in a time where misinformation abounds. Alisa Bonsignore will discuss the significance of sustainability and content strategy as climate change and social pressures intensify, Sue Warnke will talk about faith inclusion and the importance of DEI, and Meghalee Das and Jiaxin Zhang will analyze how usable and effective international offices of higher education institutions are in a time of growing internationalization in the United States.
  • Application of our skills toward data analytics and metrics continues to increase. Elizabeth Raichle Wolfe is presenting on telling a story with metrics and data visualization, and Hilary Marsh will discuss measuring what matters. In a new twist on tech comm helping with analytics, Mary Jo David will discuss how tech comm skills can help improve the usability of analytics through creation of visualization standards.
