Announcing STC's 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Service Awardee

In 2021, the STC Board of Directors approved the establishment of a new achievement award that recognizes meritorious service to the Society for Technical Communication by an individual who has demonstrated significant and sustained acts of volunteer service with enduring benefits to the Society and the profession of technical communication. This award encompasses a lifetime of service to the Society that spans multiple accomplishments, levels, and long-lasting impacts.

Nominees for the award must have at least 15 years of membership and should have contributed significantly to the Society in each of the following areas: leadership, education, mentorship, and publications.

The inaugural honor of Lifetime Achievement for Excellence in Service was awarded to:

Nicky Bleiel

For your dedicated lifetime service to STC in multiple leadership roles at both Society and broader knowledge-sharing levels, with an outstanding volume of presentations and publications, and as a longtime mentor to new professionals. Your service demonstrates exemplary agency, creativity, and diligence, and you continue to serve as a model for others to emulate.

This award was presented at the 2022 STC Technical Communication Summit & Expo Honors Event on 17 May 2022 in Rosemont, IL. The complete list of requirements for this honor can be found on the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Service page.

Thank you to the award committee for their assistance in evaluation the candidates, and thank you to those who nominated such strong candidates for consideration.
