Presenting the 2022 STC classes of Fellow and Associate Fellow

The new STC Fellows and Associate Fellow were honored at the 2022 STC Technical Communication Summit & Expo Honors Event on 17 May 2022 in Rosemont, IL.

2022 class of STC Fellow:

Becoming an STC Fellow is a lifelong journey of achievement, an honor bestowed by the Society upon Associate Fellows who have continued to make exemplary contributions to our organization and profession, and who have made good on their promise to make a difference.

The work of these individuals greatly enhances the field of technical communication, the Society, and our profession. We take enormous pride in recognizing them for their extraordinary accomplishments.

David Caruso
For contributing to the STC Summit and community events, spreading awareness about technical communication in the public health domain, and excelling in your career as a health communication specialist.

Li-At (Ruttenburg) Rathbun
For continuing and passionate commitment and contribution to the quality of technical communication through workshops, writings, and programs by being an advocate, instructor, mentor, and thought leader for technical editing and for the profession at large.

Ben Woelk
For serving the society at the board as well as the community level, educating and mentoring students and professionals, contributing to STC conferences and publications, and excelling in the career as a professional as well as an academic.

The complete list of requirements for this honor can be found on the Fellows page. For a complete list of all honorees who have achieved this milestone, see the Historical List of STC Fellows.

The STC Board thanks the Fellows committee – Makarand Pandit (Chair), Victoria Koster-Lenhardt, Linda Oestreich, and Sree Pattabiraman – for their work this year.

2022 class of STC Associate Fellow:

Associate Fellow is one of the three honorary ranks in the Society. The standard for an STC Associate Fellow is a high one. Recipients must be an STC Senior Member and active in the field of technical communication for at least 15 years. Most importantly, Associate Fellows are responsible for important original professional work in the field. They make notable intellectual contributions to the advancement of technical communication, and significant contributions to the Society.

Associate Fellows hold multiple leadership positions in professional organizations or their workplaces; they often have published papers, or written articles or books, in addition to giving dozens of presentations, and mentoring those who are new to the field.

Lisa Melonçon
For continuous commitment to education in technical communication that highlights a research-based, field-wide perspective and to maintaining a connection between academics and practitioners.

The complete list of requirements for this honor can be found on the Associate Fellows page. For a complete list of all honorees who have achieved this milestone, see the Historical List of STC Associate Fellows.

The STC Board thanks the Associate Fellows committee – Rachel Houghton (Chair), Mollye Barrett, Jack Molisani, Michael Opsteegh, Jamye Sagan, and Timothy Esposito – for their work this year.
