Weekly Education Roundup: Intelligence Augmentation for Learning Solutions

Summer may be winding down, but your education doesn't have to! We've got some great webinars and online courses coming up. Make the most of your membership by beefing up your education report card.

This Week:

We've got a webinar this week on a cutting-edge topic: Intelligence Augmentation for Learning Solutions. AI voice technologies, such as Google Home, Alexa, and API.AI, are powerful tools that can be used for hands-free, multi-level interactive education. This webinar will help technical communicators understand how to use these technologies to design fresh user experiences and education. Presented by Ken Hubbell, Senior Manager of Instructional Design Strategy and Innovation at Wells Fargo, this webinar takes place Wednesday, 23 August, from 2:00-3:00 PM EDT (GMT-4).

Next Week:

It's hard work getting people to change. Without the right motivation to change, people would rather stick to what they know, even if the status quo is more painful, ineffective, and unsatisfying. That's where Team Collaboration through Content Journeys comes in.  This webinar shows technical communicators how to use content to bring your team together and, by extension, provide better, more satisfying content to customers. Presented by Melissa Breker, Content Strategist and Consultant at Breker Group Consulting, this webinar takes place Wednesday, 30 August, from 2:00-30:00 PM EDT (GMT-4).

Upcoming:

User Experience Design (UXD) is the practice of enhancing a user’s quality of experience by designing with the user in mind. And as Don Norman says in The Design of Everyday Things (2013), “Design is really an act of communication, which means having a deep understanding of the person with whom the designer is communicating.” Technical Writing for User Experience Design will teach the core UXD principles, methods, and strategies of user-centered design and user-centered communication. this online course, taught by Rachael Burke of George Mason University, runs from 7 September through 12 October on Thursdays from 11:00 AM-12:30 PM EDT (GMT-4).
