Delroy Thompson

I’m an educator who is learning the technical communicator field. I know the importance of saying something clearly and concisely, even though, as a former teacher, I felt I had the option of being verbose in order to be understood.

Currently, and for the past 18 months, I have been working as User Assistance Designer for SumTotal Systems. (I mainly write documentation; create training; repurpose training; etc.). Previously, I taught Language Arts or Reading for 16 years in various public high schools and middle schools.

My great passions involve understanding how people learn and exploring efficient, effective processes to facilitate that learning.

I have doctorate in Instructional Technology and Distance Education from Nova Southeastern University. In my thesis, I explored lesson design strategies for engaging reluctant readers. I also have a Master of Education degree from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a technical writing emphasis from the University of South Florida.
