I’m an associate professor and department chair for the Digital Writing and Media Arts at SPSU.
I teach primarily in the Information Design & Communication graduate program. Courses taught include Writing Across Media, Information Architecture, Content Strategy, and Visual Thinking. I also teach at the undergraduate level. My recent courses are Environmental Writing, Social Media Integration, and Technical Communication.
Additionally, I’m the Graduate Coordinator for the Master of Science in Information Design & Communication as well as the allied introductory and advanced graduate certificates including: Visual Communication, Content Strategy, Instructional Design, Communications Management, User Experience. As the Graduate Coordinator, I oversee admissions, marketing, and curriculum development.
My current interests and research activities are focused on integrated social media practices for professional/technical communication, information literacy (meta-literacy) and data-driven rhetoric. I am also engaged in research about the analytics, SEO, 508, and web master tools in relation to rhetorical strategies.
I was the Senior Associate for the Usability Center at SPSU from 2008 to 2013. In this position, I focused on data collection and analysis.
