Rosemont has a restaurant to please just about every taste. Last time, I told you about nearby world-class dining options, but you don’t have to venture far to find affordable dining. Two affordable options are actually in the Hyatt Regency. O’H American In the Hyatt Regency Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this restaurant opens at 6:00 AM. According to the Hyatt, this place specializes in American comfort food. Glancing at the online menus, that certainly seems true. The menus appear light on vegetarian options, and I did not see any mention of gluten-free meals. Red Bar In the Hyatt Regency This place is loud and fun. You’ll find a full service bar, pub food, and salads. This place also serves up items you won’t find on the online menu, including beers brewed in Chicago, handmade sushi, and great cocktails sans the alcohol. My favorite alcohol-free drink is the Virgin Bloody Mary.

Within walking distance of the Hyatt Regency

Liberty Tavern 5550 North River Road (Located in the Hilton Hotel) I’ve never eaten here, but I’ve passed by several times. Whenever I glance in the large windows, it always looks like people are having a great time. The restaurant opens at 6:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM. There is also a late-night bar. The menu seems to offer something for everyone. Five Roses Pub 5509 Park Place

Five Roses Pub in Rosemont feels like an authentic Irish pub

This pub opened in mid-April, and the decor looked so inviting I just had to try it. The minute you walk through the door, you feel like you just might be in Ireland. According to our server, some of the light fixtures came from a church in Ireland. The food is excellent, but I feel that I must warn you about one thing. You’ll be served nothing more than what it says on the menu. I ordered the salmon with boxy potato cakes. The salmon sat on a layer of paper-thin potato cakes. If you want anything else, be sure to order a side. The Five Roses opens at 5:00 PM every day. Nearby Chains Within a few miles of the Hyatt Regency, you’ll also find some national chains:
  • TGIF at 9651 W. Higgins (a little over 1 mile)
  • Several national chains (about 3.5 miles from the Hyatt) are at the intersection of Manheim and Touhy; you’ll find a Chili’s, Culver’s (home of the butter burger), Steak ‘n Shake, and a few other national restaurant chains.

For the vegetarians among us: I hear good things about the Heartland Café at 6400 Shafer Ct, 1.3 miles north of the conference hotel.
