Are you in or near Sacramento? If so, you’re invited on a “field trip” this Saturday, 13 November, to get a preview of the locations being used for the 2011 Summit. Plans for promotions, volunteers, and more will be discussed during this event as well. The following email went out earlier this week, but all are invited! Email Judith Herr for coordinating Bay Area departures.

We at STC Sacramento are looking forward to meeting with contingents from Bay Area chapters. We’re very excited about hosting the 2011 conference. We hope to involve as many volunteers as possible. We’ll discuss plans for this when we see you. Plans Depending on the weather, we’ll walk to places of interest near the mall accommodations. If horrid weather conditions arise, the day would, of course, be shortened. The convention center/hotel tour would still be on, but we would have to drive to Old Sacramento, and that means parking issues, so that would best be done weather permitting. I was going to plan lunch at 1:00 PM in Old Sacramento, but not much time will have passed since breakfast, so let’s leave that to consensus. This is why the time at the Sheraton Grand revolves around drinks and snacks. This will be the time to discuss plans of action for the conference. Proposed Schedule 10:00 AM Meet at Vines Café in the Hyatt, 1209 L Street. Park in the hotel’s structure for three-hours-free validation obtained with breakfast. Rate is $5.25/hr. Saturday eases street parking. 11:00 AM Convention Center/Hotel Tour, 1400 J Street. Noon Capital Mall Tour. Walk the mall. 1:00 PM Old Sacramento Riverside, Train Museum Site. Walking tour from the end of the mall 2:00 PM Drinks and Noshing/Tactical Planning/Wrap-up at Public Market Bar in the Sheraton Grand. 13th and J Street
