Bethany Aguad has worked in academe, hospitality, and financial services leveraging her communication skills and process improvement to solve information problems. Her experience in STC has played an integral role in her development as a technical communicator and a leader.
In her years with STC, she has received the Distinguished Service Award for Students and Distinguished Chapter Service Award, been a Sigma Tau Chi honoree, co-managed STC’s student outreach initiative, and represented students on the Community Affairs Committee. She currently serves the Society on the scholarship committee.
Bethany has served her local chapter, STC Florida, in many positions, including Treasurer, Webmaster, and most recently, President. She has nurtured her passion for student outreach through co-managing the education committee, pairing students at the University of Central Florida (UCF) with professionals in the industry through the chapter’s successful mentoring program.
A graduate of UCF with a B.A. and an M.A. in English—Technical Communication, Bethany has received the prestigious Melissa Pellegrin Memorial Scholarship and the Stuart Omans Award for Excellence in Technical Communication.
In 2018, she led the STC Florida chapter through the responsibilities of hosting the 2018 Summit, while presenting on two panels during the event. She has also presented at Leadership Day at three STC Summits on the benefits of mentoring programs to STC members, universities, and communities.
She currently works as a Technical Documentation Specialist at Sagent Lending Technologies in Lake Mary, Florida where she handles the publishing process for loan servicing documentation.
